Maria Namuco Smith

Ms. Smith is thrilled to join the George Washington Carver faculty this year as a special education resource teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and Sciences with a minor in psychology from the University of Southern California.

In 2005, she relocated from Los Angeles to the Sacramento area to enroll in the Waldorf Teacher Education Program at Rudolf Steiner College. She completed the program and has worked in public and private Waldorf schools since 2007.

Ms. Smith is currently completing a Master of Science in Special Education with a specialization in mild/moderate disabilities. She is also obtaining a teaching credential in special education.

In addition to her passion for education, her other interests include volunteering for organizations such as the Sacramento Children’s Chorus and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Some of her travel goals include visiting each of the states in this great country (she’s only made it to ten thus far) and making it back to the small island of Guam where she was born.
