Superintendent Search Townhall Meetings 
C.K. McClatchy High School hosted the first of seven townhalls on February 21 to gather input on what our community wants to see in a new superintendent. Students, parents, community members, teachers and other staff attended. To follow the superintendent search process and submit your comments via the search survey, visit http://www.scusd.edu/superintendent-search. Tales from Carver Creative Writers
An 82-page book of poetry and prose by the Creative Writing Club at George Washington Carver High School. It is our first publication. Features writing by Sydney Smith, Felice De Danann, Allen Hamming, Sorina Munteanu, Nadia Garcia, Colin Regan, Grace Fernandez, and Scott Stine

Carver Garden Update 
Gardening students have been transplanting seedlings and look forward to harvesting kale, chard, cabbage, full flower beds and those delicious summer time tomatoes and peppers!
 
SAT & ACT Test Prep Classes for Juniors 
Register now for our FREE 8 session test prep classes on Thursdays after school.
Scholars Tutoring Center is working with our College Advisor, Mrs. Kinn to get Carver students ready for college.
 
ACT Prep (for April 8 test):
Thursdays 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6; all 2:30-4:30 pm
Includes instruction on ACT Test sections English/Math/Reading/Science/Essay
 
SAT Prep (for June 3 test):
Thursdays 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25; all 2:30-4:30 pm
Includes instruction on SAT Test sections Reading/Writing-Language/Math/Essay
 
When you register in the office with Mrs. Agnos, you will pay $20 for the Princeton Review Cracking the SAT 2017 Edition
 
Students are responsible for bringing pencils and a test agency-approved calculator.
Thanks to a grant from the City of Rancho Cordova, Carver students took chartered buses to Sacramento State University to see a live dance performance paying tribute to 25 years of Black dance at the college, followed by a Q& A with performers and choreographers. Students ate lunch and toured the campus before returning to Carver.

The Sacramento State Alumni Association is now accepting scholarship applications for students planning to attend Sacramento State in the fall. The application and instructions are available online at www.csus.edu/alum/students/scholarships.html. All applications must be submitted or postmarked by Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund is a one-time $2,500 scholarship, unless otherwise specified. Students can learn more, including eligibility requirements, at http://jmscottmemorialfund.org

The Antonio Medrano Memorial Scholarship was established by a group of administrators and friends of Mr. Medrano, formerpPrincipal of Cesar Chavez Elementary School, who passed away in 2014. The scholarship is open to all senior students in any of the Sacramento City Unified School District's high schools. Click here for more information.
